The literature recognises how teams struggle with implementing these methods according to known current best practices and standards. The purpose of this paper is to report the on-going development of a research artefact called IRMA 3600 (Integrated Risk Management Approach) through a Longitudinal Action Case Study over four cases between 2016 and 2024. There is a particular focus on Case 4 – an ISO 18404 Certified Alliance. In summary, this research has identified links between RM, make-ready planning and CI, and proposes IRMA 3600 as a model to advance the Last Planner® System (LPS) by feeding what ‘might’ happen or might be possible through ‘should, can, will, did, learn’ functions. We conclude that both effective RM and make-ready are required to create and protect value which includes reliable workflow. However, to embed RM and make-ready planning a safe and collaborative environment is desired. In theory, RM is complex as it deals with uncertainty. On the other hand, make-ready is a relatively straightforward activity to ‘just’ screen tasks for constraints.
