This refers to the way that refurbishments are carried out, the typical problems faced at the construction stage, the influential factors affecting planning and control effectiveness, and the identification of the current managerial practices adopted by construction companies for managing production. Information was collected through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observations of project management meetings and works on site, and documental analysis. The information gathered was validated through a workshop involving project participants. The paper concludes presenting the good managerial practices identified and the opportunities for improvement. KW - Refurbishment KW - production KW - management KW - lean construction.
